Nathan Shanfein
Project Engineer

B.S. in Management of Technology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, University of New Mexico

Nathan joined Mil-Spec in 2015, and prior to that he has worked on a wide variety of projects in the technology field for the past 17 years. Starting as a computer tech, he then moved on to working with radioactive sources and acceptance testing of portal monitors in Belgium and the Bahamas. After which, he spent a couple of years working on front and backend web design for Sandia National Laboratory, while simultaneously heading the Engine Team for the 2011 LOBO Motorsports team. 

    His final project at Sandia National Labs before joining Mil-Spec was the development of a new, state-of-the-art capacitor winding machine, which was the subject of his master’s thesis. This winding machine is currently in use at Mil-Spec and is used to wind exotic Gel-Mylar capacitors for Sandia National Labs.
