Athula Meepe
Vice President Of Operations

    Athula joined Mil-Spec Magnetics as Vice President of Operations in January of 2011, after 21 years at Bank of New York Mellon. With 27 years experience in Senior Management, Athula started in the electronics industry as a Quality Assurance test technician at Standard Industries in La Mirada, California in 1983. He rose up to become the Purchasing Manager for the Magnetics and the Cable divisions and was also in charge of production control. He improved the purchasing system to reduce material lead time and optimize production.

    In 1987 he joined Bourns Instruments in Riverside California as the Production Manager for the Pressure Instruments Division. He received training in SPC (Statistical Process Control) and was able to streamline the product flow and improve output. He managed a two shift operation with approximately 50 operators and shipments of approximately $4.2 Million per year.

    He joined the Investment Banking industry in 1989 as the statement unit manager at Security Pacific Bank, which merged with Bank of America in 1991.  After the merger with The Bank of New York in 1995, he rose up to become a Vice President and Team Leader for the Institutional Investments division. He managed a team of account administrators servicing high profile insurance companies managing their investment accounts which were regulated by the California State Insurance Commissioner. He was responsible for managing trading activity and regulatory reporting for assets valued at more than $40 Billion.

    In 2005 he became the Vice President of Quality Assurance and Compliance for the Document Custody division for Mortgage Backed Securities group located in Cypress California, which held approximately 5 million mortgage loan files as collateral for securitized deals.  He implemented the Quality Assurance program per the regulatory guidelines and was given the responsibility for Quality Assurance at Document Custody sites in New York and Texas as well. He worked closely with the Banking Regulatory Agencies such as OCC (Office of the Cash Comptroller) and the Government Services Agencies such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae for continued improvement of the Quality Assurance program and earned the respect of the senior management and the regulatory agencies. In 2006 he achieved Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
